Is this phone number a scam lookup — what does it actually check?
We check formatting, country and area-code patterns, premium-rate ranges, common SMS sender-ID abuses (banks, tax authorities, parcel couriers), and known scam templates. We don't query carrier databases — caller ID can be spoofed, so the verdict is always advisory.
What should I do if I already answered or replied?
If you only spoke briefly and shared nothing sensitive, you're fine — just block the number. If you shared a password, card number, or one-time code, treat it as a breach: change the password immediately, freeze the card with your bank, and turn on two-factor authentication.
Can scammers fake a real number?
Yes. Caller-ID spoofing is trivial and widely used. A call that appears to come from your bank's real number may not be from your bank. The safest move is always to hang up and dial back on the number printed on your card or on the bank's official website.
